A southern Maine running tradition, the 42nd Annual Portland Thanksgiving Day 4-Miler and Kids K course winds through the city’s historic Old Port and downtown districts. The Kids K, a .62-mile race which sees more than 100 competitors each year, starts at Monument Square, runs to the Courthouse, and finishes in front of City Hall. Race proceeds benefit Partners for World Health and various area nonprofits. The associated food drive, now in its 38th year, will benefit Project Feed, an emergency food pantry. All Kid's K runners will receive a ceremonial medal at the finish line, and all runners 21 and over are invited to the Shipyard Tap Room on Newbury Street for a complimentary beer after the race.
