Wine Talk

Above all enjoy your family and holiday and drink responsibly!

For people who like to cook, Thanksgiving is the biggest food holiday of the year.

But if your focus has been on your recipes, you may not have thought about that other essential ingredient on the table, WINE!

I’ve always said, no matter what, it's best to drink what you like and to celebrate this uniquely American holiday. So, I’ve put together a wine list for your consideration, that will surely complement everyone’s festive meal.

White Wines:

Chardonnay:

A lightly oaked California Chardonnay will bring out the complex flavors of a roasted turkey. While a fruity and crisp French Chardonnay such as a Chablis or burgundy offer a more delicate mouthfeel.

Riesling:

If you are looking for a utility player, this wine is it. It has all the ability to complement everything from a green bean casserole to candied sweet potatoes. It’s light, refreshing and a good palate cleanser. It can work well with buttery mashed potatoes, but not overpower the mild complex flavors of the turkey.

Red Wines:

Pinot Noir:

A red with notes of silky red fruit on the palate, with a structured finish and fine tannins, a Willamette Oregon Pinot definitely fits the bill.
