1. When did you discover your love for wine?
My passion for wine sparked around 2010 through a wine club in Oklahoma City, founded by a friend who now owns a winery in New York. The club was created to connect smart, dynamic women, and it’s still thriving today despite many of us moving away. At our gatherings, I found myself diving deep into the wines—researching grape varieties, regions, and winemaking processes for my hosting sessions, complete with handouts and maps.
2. How do you find and learn about lesser-known winemakers?
I discover small, artisanal producers by spending time in regions like California, where I meet winemakers crafting limited-production wines, often not distributed beyond their region. I also attend trade tastings focused on specific countries or regions, connecting with global winemakers.
3. What can people expect from your wine tastings?
Expect a fun, educational experience where you’ll discover your palate and learn to evaluate wines, even those you don’t love. My goal is to empower attendees to become their own sommeliers. You’ll explore new wines, gain confidence in expressing preferences, and enjoy the process without feeling pressured to like “approved” wines.
