While we typically don’t get a white Christmas here in Bellevue, a quick drive to Leavenworth will place you in the ultimate Bavarian holiday town. Nominated by numerous publications as one of the “Top 10 Places to Find the Most Holiday Cheer,” Leavenworth is our own little North Pole in our backyard. Throughout the month of December, check out the famous Christmas tree-lighting festival, where more than 500,000 holiday lights illuminate the town. There are also plenty of other holiday activities, including holiday concerts, tubing, sleigh and dog sled rides, snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing.

A perfect place to unwind and lodge after a day out on the town is the Posthotel, located in downtown Leavenworth and walking distance to all holiday activities. The Posthotel is inspired by European wellness resorts, bringing authentic wellness concepts from the Alps.  The resort features various steam rooms and saunas, plunge pools, a swim-out saltwater pool and indoor and outdoor spas. Relaxation is encouraged with a no-cell-phone policy at the entrance of the spa, as well as plush robes and slippers for each guest to wear as long as possible. Delicious European breakfast and lunch are included, every bit of it fresh, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. If you need another level of restoration, hit the full-service spa for facials and massages.

Leavenworth is truly a world-class resort in the heart of a world-class holiday town—just a short distance from Bellevue. Whether Leavenworth is already a holiday tradition, or you have yet to visit, there are multiple reasons to make a trip there this holiday season. Just be sure to book your room in time!
