Before financial advisor Samantha M. Compton joined Wise Wealth LLC in Lee’s Summit, she noticed a disturbing recurring theme among women during investment meetings. They felt inept, invisible and afraid to ask questions for fear of looking ignorant or vulnerable.
“This concerned me because it’s vital that women be involved in the conversations and feel confident in their financial futures,” Compton says.
As a Senior Financial Advisor/Women’s Investment Specialist at Wise Wealth, Compton discussed her desire to better empower women with President Stephen Stricklin, CFP. His reply was a resounding yes.
“Samantha’s vision for Wise Women is a natural extension of how Wise Wealth empowers people through education,” Stricklin says. “Samantha truly cares about helping women achieve their full God-given potential. There’s nothing quite like Wise Women—not only in Lee’s Summit, but in all of Kansas City.”
Stricklin recommends the events to women of all ages. “These powerful, connected and awesome women support, equip and encourage one another to live purpose-filled lives through sound education and refreshing community.”
In less than three years, Wise Women has outgrown its meeting rooms and now congregates downtown at The Stanley where attendance ranges between 55-85 women each month, with no membership required. “You don’t need to be a client,” Compton adds. “It’s open to all women who want to grow in wisdom.”
Although not a networking group, Wise Women naturally fosters relationship-building. “These optimistic, inspiring and supportive women care about each other,” Compton says. “They welcome new women and make them feel immediately at ease.”
Compton adds that as Wise Women has invested in women, it has impacted couples, too. “Many men have told me how thankful they are that if something happens to them, their wife has a comprehensive understanding of their long-term financial plan.”
Compton and Stricklin agree that their greatest reward is the gratitude of clients who have implemented sound wisdom into their finances and their lives.
“First Wisdom, Then Wealth” is the principle upon which Stricklin began the independent, full service financial planning firm in 2007. It’s based on Proverbs 24:3-4: “Through wisdom is a house built, and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge shall the rooms be filled with pleasant and precious riches.”
Both Compton and Stricklin, together with their individual families, are committed to the Lee’s Summit community.
“We love Downtown Main Street Lee’s Summit,” they say. “It fits who we are. You don’t have to go to Johnson County or Kansas City to get expert financial advice—we have a team of financial professionals right here. Please don’t be intimidated or assume you haven’t saved enough to speak with a financial planner. We’re friendly and easy to talk to.”

“We help women flourish in all areas of life because those areas often impact our finances. We sharpen and encourage each other as women, business owners, employees, wives, mothers and community leaders.” ~ Samantha M. Compton, founder, Wise Women
