We're bubbling with excitement to kick off a heartwarming new tradition—our Women of Gilbert spotlight! When we asked who deserved recognition, nominations poured in from adoring fans, proud friends, grateful coworkers, and even a few smitten hubbies! Though we could only showcase nine fabulous ladies (those pesky page limits!), each nominee captured our hearts. These women are the sunshine of our community—nurturing businesses, lifting up our youth, and creating cozy spaces where everyone belongs. Their bright spirits and genuine love for Gilbert shine through in everything they do!

Amy J. McConnell -

Amy J. McConnell is on a mission to make motherhood more joyful, connected, and community-driven. Through her platform, East Valley Moms, Amy shares helpful hacks, local resources, and encouragement for fellow moms navigating the early years of parenting. As a mom to Maverick—who starts kindergarten in fall 2025—Amy admits she’ll always choose an art project over building a train set, and swears by her go-to parenting tip: it’s easier to parent outside than inside four walls.

Motherhood reignited Amy’s love for the Gilbert community. While searching for her own “village,” she realized how many wonderful but hidden resources exist for moms and wanted to help others find them more easily. When her son was just four months old, she had the chance to purchase East Valley Moms—originally a hobby blog—and turn it into a purpose-driven business that combines her media background with her passion for family and connection.

Her favorite local gem? Carl’s Damaged Animals, a quirky, heartfelt animal sanctuary tucked away in Gilbert. A perfect day starts with coffee, feeding the animals at Carl’s, and strolling through the nearby Riparian Preserve with her son by her side.

Tisha Marie Pelletier -

Tisha Marie Pelletier is the definition of a woman who leads with heart and purpose. A six-time entrepreneur and ASU Walter Cronkite School alum, Tisha has spent decades building businesses, mentoring others, and uplifting her community. She was selected for Women of Gilbert because of her unwavering commitment to service, innovation, and impact. Whether mentoring teens through Big Brothers Big Sisters, inspiring others on her Tisha Talks livestream, or connecting locals through events, she shows up fully.

Known for her Wonder Woman energy, glittery brunches at Hash Kitchen, and favorite book The Go-Giver, Tisha lives out what she teaches—giving more than she takes and building a life full of meaning, connection, and true community.

Erika Hilligas -

Midwest-born and passionate about people, Erika Hilligas brings heart, style, and a deep sense of purpose to the Gilbert community. With a background in social work and a natural love for building relationships, Erika followed her lifelong passion for fashion and small business to open a boutique that offers women more than just clothing—it’s a space for connection, confidence, and creativity. Her store is known for its trendy, unique pieces you won’t find in big box stores and its warm, welcoming vibe.

Erika and her husband, proud parents to five beloved dogs, were immediately drawn to Gilbert’s strong community feel and support for small businesses. That sense of belonging and encouragement has fueled her journey as a business owner and member of the local scene.

In addition to running her boutique, Erika is a dedicated advocate for local dog rescues, encouraging others to get involved through fostering, adopting, or donating. You’ll often find her exploring Gilbert markets—her favorite spots for discovering the best food trucks, coffee vendors, and fellow small businesses.

Erika lives by the quote, “It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years,” and she’s certainly making each one count.

Heather Ferrari -

Heather Ferrari is fueled by a passion for genuine connection. Since moving to Gilbert in 2014, she’s made it her mission to bring women together in meaningful, authentic ways. Her first introduction to the community came through homeschooling—where Gilbert became the classroom, neighbors became classmates, and friendships flourished. That experience revealed the heart of Gilbert: a town built on people, support, and shared journeys.

Heather is the founder of The Women 360, a unique networking group designed to be more than just professional connections—it’s a space where women feel seen, known, and truly valued. Women show up just as they are, and leave with a sisterhood that rallies behind both their personal and professional growth. It’s a space for real relationships, where encouragement fuels success.

Her deepest passion lies in helping women who feel alone on their entrepreneurial path find community, confidence, and clarity. Whether it's through Women 360 or a simple word of encouragement, Heather believes no one should walk their journey alone.

Her favorite local spot? Humble Bistro, especially for their handmade lasagna. And her guiding inspiration? The Bible—a reminder of her mission to walk beside others and speak life wherever she goes.

Amanda Nosbisch -

Amanda Nosbisch believes that dignity and kindness should be at the core of every act of service. As Executive Director of One Small Step, she ensures individuals and families have access to quality clothing and resources that build confidence and open doors. Her background in Child Protective Services and school-based prevention programs shaped her deep commitment to helping families thrive.

Amanda’s “jumping-in” moment came when One Small Step moved into its Gilbert location in 2019. Since then, she’s been inspired by the town’s generosity, collaboration, and strong sense of community.

She’s also a proud mom to graduating triplets and loves supporting local businesses that give back. Her guiding quote? “To the world, you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world.”

Julia Macaluso -

Julia Macaluso is a woman of deep faith, strong leadership, and genuine love for people. As CEO of GR8FR8 Logistics, she leads with integrity, grace, and a heart for service. A former teacher, Julia never imagined running a business—but with her husband, Nicholas, and a passion for connection, she stepped boldly into entrepreneurship in 2018.

Since joining the Gilbert Chamber and graduating from Gilbert Leadership, Julia has become a vibrant part of the community. She’s especially proud of co-creating the “Hope Walk” at Riparian Preserve.

Beyond business, Julia mentors high school girls through Sun Valley Community Church, where she and her husband serve in ministry. Her favorite Gilbert gem? Romeo’s Euro Café—a family-owned favorite with heart and flavor.

Dawn Marie Buckland -

Dawn Marie Buckland is a passionate leader, lifelong learner, and world traveler who brings a global perspective to local government. With a background in the U.S. Air Force and a love for public service, she found her stride in city management—helping shape Gilbert’s growth as management and budget director in 2010. Her leadership helped establish Gilbert’s AAA bond rating and innovations in budgeting and operations.

A champion for community service, Dawn serves on the boards of Gilbert Sister Cities and Advance Community Health, advocating for youth exchanges, healthcare access, and global connection. Whether learning a new skill, mentoring others, or enjoying live music at Garage East, Dawn believes every individual has the power to make a meaningful difference.

Anika Taylor Robinson -

Anika Taylor Robinson is a devoted wife, mother of nine, and longtime foster mom whose home has welcomed children for the past 17 years. In 2016, she co-founded ASA Now from her Gilbert home to support foster and adoptive families statewide. What began as a grassroots mission has grown into a life-changing nonprofit providing 24/7 assistance, emergency resources, tutoring, and trauma-informed programs to over 69,000 children.

She also helped pass Jacob’s Law and launched Jacob’s Mission Community Center and Shade Tree Academy—serving Arizona’s most vulnerable youth.

What Anika loves most about Gilbert is the people—generous, united, and ready to serve. It’s that community spirit that fuels her mission and reminds her she’s exactly where she’s meant to be.

Mandy Regan -

andy Regan is a wife, mom of three, and the founder of Be Queen. Clothing, a boutique designed for women who want stylish, comfortable, and affordable pieces that reflect real life. What started as a personal frustration with finding clothes that felt “just right” turned into a mission to serve women like her.

She recently opened her first storefront in Gilbert and credits the local community for making her feel right at home. Her customers—her fellow “Queens”—are the heartbeat of her business.

Mandy is passionate about creating connection through clothing, sharing real moments, and encouraging women to embrace their everyday beauty. Her favorite Gilbert spot? The Coffee Shop at Agritopia for cozy vibes and meaningful conversation.
