Wynter Fisher

GJ's Youth Art Scene

Anyone who strolls down Main St, Grand Junction knows that we are a city that values art. The Western Slope is especially great at encouraging young artists. Wynter Fisher is one such young artist. At only 16 years of age, she already has her art featured and sold in various locations.

Wynter comes from creative genes: her mother is an author and her father is a craftsman, but they report Wynter’s love for art is all her own and started at a very young age. “Wynter has been drawing since she could pick up a pencil. We have had to repaint the walls several times.” Her childish drawings and wall art scribbles have blossomed into her own style and this young artist is already making a name for herself. Wynter’s artwork is primarily paintings and drawings, though she also makes jewelry and sells it in her family’s booth at the downtown farmer’s market.

Five years ago her family was on a road trip and they stumbled across Marble, CO. They stopped in at Abstract Marble in the town and they got chatting with the owner, Gary Bascom. He gave Wynter a box of marble pieces. He encouraged her to paint on them and bring them back to display. She has been displaying and selling, paintings on marble ever since. Some of her works have proven to be especially popular and sell before she even completes the piece. She even has clients who want her work displayed outside for the world to see. It took some experimentation, but Wynter and her parents have found a way to preserve her works on marble even outside in the harsh Colorado weather. Her artwork is also displayed and sold in the Paonia Flower Shop. There you can find more of her paintings and jewelry.

Wynter reports that she doesn’t draw inspiration from only one source, rather, she looks for artist works she is interested in and studies them, and watches them paint. It is of little surprise that she is a visual learner.

Art is not her only passion, she is also interested in flying. She is currently working towards getting her pilot’s license and has a goal to get it before her driver’s license. Her parents report she has had a passion for all things flight ever since she was little. Wynter has dreams of becoming a fighter pilot in the military.

You can find Wynter’s artwork at HiddenCabinTreasures.net. You can also find her work, along with her parent’s talents of writing and woodworking, on Etsy, Pintrerest, MeWe, Parler, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Gab.
