Yetzer Home Store

Different by Design

Yetzer Home Store has stood as a pillar of downtown Waconia since their foundation by “Uncle Will” Yetzer in the 1940s. What began as the WWII medic’s great ambition has become the southwest suburbs’ preeminent destination for furniture, bedding, flooring, rugs, windows and more. And while 2020 marked the locally owned home decor emporium’s biggest year of growth to date, their current owner Thomas Wiest still honors Uncle Will’s guiding principle: to offer the greatest available value, for the fairest price.

“We have a niche here at Yetzer,” said Thomas, “and that is quality – pure and simple.

“I never want one of our customers to find out they bought a piece of junk a few months after their visit. That’s why we only offer middle to upper end products, and American-made as often as we’re able. At the same time, we never engage in premium pricing. Whatever you buy at Yetzer is worth exactly what you paid for it.

“Our commitment to our customers goes well beyond the sale. We’re full-service and on call to repair anything that we sell. We often fix pieces of furniture which haven’t been in our showroom for over ten years. We’re a small-town business, so a handshake still means a lot here. (Or ‘elbowshakes,’ nowadays.)

“We are also extraordinarily passionate about what we do. I myself have been in retail for 40 years, and when I leave my house every morning it’s not to go to work. It’s to go play. Our team members all share that enthusiasm, which you’re bound to appreciate when we treat you to the Yetzer Experience: high touch, high communication, and high expectation.

“Our furniture store exemplifies the Yetzer Experience. We offer couches and chairs by Smith Brothers of Berne, Indiana, which has handcrafted custom upholstery in the Swiss-Amish tradition since 1926. They use high-quality materials to create any piece of furniture our customer can dream of, whether it’s a loveseat, three-seat, or six-seat reclining sectional. Smith Brothers can do any style of arms, legs and pillow backs in a thousand different colors. Thanks to that old Amish craftsmanship, our furniture department really lets you design your furniture to perfectly complement your home.

“Our sleep store exclusively offers mattresses by Englander. They have perfected their craft since they were founded in Illinois in 1894, and because they only market their brand directly to retailers like Yetzer, our customers don’t have to pay extra for expensive advertising campaigns. With 15 models of Englander’s comfortable and durable mattresses in stock, you’re certain to find one that creates zero pressure points as you lie down to sleep. You spend about one-third of your life in bed. Just a few minutes at Yetzer will make sure you spend all that time in total comfort.

“Our flooring store is just as dedicated to creating lasting quality. We specialize in hard surfaces, such as luxury vinyl plank which is available in any style and texture, and which doesn’t show wear and tear after taking years’ worth of beatings. All of our installation teams have been with us for over a decade. They painstakingly prep every home we’re invited to work on to make certain its new flooring lasts indefinitely, from pulling out the old floor to moving the furniture back in. Our customers love how we take the reins of every project from start to finish.

“We also offer the entire line of Hunter Douglas blinds and shades, with more than 250 models in over 700 different colors to choose from. So many options can seem daunting at first, but our designers and installation team are always ready to help our customers get the best look for any home!”

Yetzer Home Stores dedicated to furniture, flooring and sleep are divided among three locations within walking distance of one another in downtown Waconia. To find out more about their lasting and local quality, please visit yetzers.com.
