Kari Clark has been part of Stadia Financial from the initial vision through the launch of the Investment Advisory Firm in Hawai‘i. Here is what she had to say when asked about investment and related concepts.
How do you measure success?
Being part of building something from the ground up has been incredibly meaningful because it allowed us to shape the firm around our values from day one.
While many firms measure success by the number of clients they serve, that has never been our focus. We don’t count our clients as numbers; each individual and each business we work with represents a relationship, a family, and a story. Whether someone has a large portfolio or is just getting started, they are equally important to us.
Our clients are not a statistic; they are our ‘ohana. We measure our success by the trust we build, the education we provide, and the positive impact we make in the lives of the families and businesses who choose to work with us. That commitment to relationships over numbers is what truly defines who we are.
What does "investment" mean to you?
An investment is anything you commit your time, resources and heart to in order to create something meaningful for the future. Financially, that means making thoughtful, strategic decisions today to build security and opportunity tomorrow. Investment also means pouring into your family, community, values and personal growth.
Every day, we invest in relationships, health, children and our community. Those investments often yield the greatest returns.
What does "worth" mean to you?
When I think about worth, I think about impact and legacy. Financial worth is simply a measurement. True worth is what your life represents—the lives you’ve touched, the stability you’ve created for your family and the example you leave behind for the next generation.
In Hawai‘i especially, legacy isn’t just about assets. It’s about ‘ohana. It’s about values passed down, land preserved, traditions honored, and opportunities created for children and grandchildren. It’s about ensuring that future generations can continue to call these islands home and flourish here.
As an advisor, my role is to help clients align their financial investments with what they truly value. Money is a tool, but it should serve a deeply personal and meaningful purpose. When strategy and values come together, wealth becomes more than accumulation. It becomes a vehicle for security, generosity and lasting legacy.
How do you approach market changes?
Volatility is normal. Markets move in cycles. They always have, and they always will. Fear often comes from feeling out of control. My role is to bring clarity, perspective and steady guidance during those moments.
At our firm, we don’t chase returns. Chasing performance often leads to unnecessary risk and emotional decision-making. We believe you can achieve solid, meaningful returns with less risk when your investments are thoughtfully aligned with your goals. When a portfolio is strategically built around a client’s purpose, short-term market swings don’t carry the same emotional weight. We return to the plan, revisit the strategy and make adjustments only when they are intentional and necessary, not reactive.
