Youth Corps is a life-changing leadership training experience for 36 outstanding 9th and 10th grade students in the Midlands. Each year the program begins in August and ends in May. Applications for the Fall 2022 are currently open (youthcorps.net/application).
Youth Corps participants experience a variety of learning components designed to help them develop leadership skills. Students from 19 different high schools make up the cohort of students each year. This blend of students makes Youth Corps one of the most incredible real world experiences for 9th and 10th grade students anywhere!
Youth Corps began as a vision of a few community leaders that has exploded into what one national leadership organization called "an opportunity unlike anything in the country." With hundreds of supporters, 129 community leaders, multiple businesses and organizations, and five school districts, the Youth Corps experience is changing lives.
Students participate in nine different areas modules where they gain hands-on experience and opportunities to learn, think and lead. Modules include: Leadership, Arts & Culture, Philanthropy & Non-Profits, Crimes, Victims & Justice, Media & Journalism, Legislation & Government, Business & Economics, Investment & Finance, and Career & Higher Education. Each May, graduates are unleashed into their communities where they continue to have incredible impact. Graduates are encouraged to live a life of influence, to be productive citizens, lifelong learners and take responsibility for their lives, family and community.
