For Cedar Hill Preparatory School student-athlete Zinnia Shirley, an exceptional track and field season reached the national stage this summer.
After earning championship titles at both the state and regional levels, Zinnia advanced to two national AAU competitions, where she finished third in the nation in javelin at both events. Her performances earned her the distinction of being a two-time 2026 AAU All-American.
Zinnia placed third at the AAU Club National Championships and followed that performance with another third-place finish at the AAU Junior Olympic Games.
The national podium finishes represent more than a strong season in competition. They reflect the dedication and perseverance Zinnia has brought to her development as a young athlete. Each season presents new challenges, and through track and field, she continues to build confidence, resilience, discipline, and the ability to set goals and work toward them.
At Cedar Hill Prep, her accomplishments are celebrated not only as athletic milestones, but as part of her broader growth as a student and young person.
“We are incredibly proud of Zinnia and all that she has accomplished this season,” her parents shared. “We are also deeply grateful to the CHP community for continued encouragement and support as Zinnia grows both as a student and an athlete.”
With two national All-American honors now part of her 2026 season, Zinnia has added another exciting chapter to her journey in track and field—and another reminder of what can happen when talent is matched with commitment and perseverance.
