About Us

The museum is dedicate to supporting the unique cultural fabric of Idaho by telling the often overlooked history of Black Idahoans. 2021 the 100 year anniversary of the church that housed Idaho’s first Black church and now IBHM. (Founded 1909 erected in 1921). IBHM is funded solely by donations and grants. Recent recipient of The Sister Alfreda Elsensohn Award for Outstanding Service by Idaho Humanities Council, and Idaho State Historical Society.
