More Space Place was officially founded in 1987, as Murphy Bed Centers of America® in Jacksonville, Florida. But you could say our vision began in 1894. William L. Murphy wanted to invite women into his one-room apartment in San Francisco, but during that time, society frowned upon women keeping company with bachelors in any room where a bed was in sight. So Murphy invented a bed that disappeared. And some things never change; people need more space in their homes. We are dedicated to creating modern versions of Murphy beds and wall beds with intricate cabinetry and customizable styles, colors and finishes. We also offer a complete line of custom built furniture, including: custom closets, home office furniture, media centers, garage organizers, and more. More Space Place was established in 1987 as a single retail location to modernize the 1890’s concept of the Murphy bed. With seven locations and a growing space-saving furniture product line, the company officially changed its name to More Space Place in 1995. In 1998, More Space Place began its own manufacturing in a new 26,500 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility in Largo, Florida. By 2005, More Space Place exceeded the capacity of the Largo facility and moved to a larger location in Clearwater. Today More Space Place is a brand of Closet & Storage Concepts and has locally-owned retail locations across the country, and is America’s #1 Murphy bed retailer. Additionally, we offer our customers the widest selection of custom built space-saving furniture solutions available.
