DAAP grads and local artists Matthew and Ariana Broerman (featured on the cover and inside our Feb 2019 Makers issue) continue to create and share abstract art—their recent venture is nothing short of a home run.
“We had an idea to tell the stories of sports’ most creative and game-changing players,” Ariana says. “And pair each story with an illustration.”
They Changed the Game is a new book curated by this designer-artist husband-wife team. “Some of the illustrators are seasoned professionals, some are art students—all of them blew us away … we formed relationships with artists from all over the world,” Ariana explains.
The book’s first run sold out quickly over the holiday season, but the Broermans have more in stock now—and are excited to share this intriguing collection of sports stories and unique illustrations.
“We weren’t looking for the best athletes—we wanted to highlight the obscure moments that shaped the games we love … and inspire people to be creative in whatever they do.”
