It's pumpkin season, and that means everything from our coffees and pies to our candles will be releasing that amazing pumpkin scent. Here's an easy, healthy way to enjoy one of our favorite flavors of the season--a protein-infused pumpkin smoothie.
There are so many fun variations of this drink, and you can choose to use protein powder or not, depending on what's best for you. I use sweetened, vanilla almond milk, but you can also use an unsweetened milk or milk substitute and toss in a sweetener of choice. I suggest using a high-speed blender like a Ninja, to make the drink extra smooth, but really any blender will do the job.
Ingredients
- 1 cup vanilla almond milk
- 1/3 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 banana
- 1 teaspoon peanut butter
- 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional)
- a handful of ice
- a pinch of nutmeg
- a pinch of cinnamon (+ extra to sprinkle on top)
Instructions
Blend all ingredients together until the mixture is smooth. Serve in a glass and top it with whipped cream sprinkled with cinnamon. You can even throw some chopped pecans or toasted pumpkin seeds on top, if you like. Enjoy!
