As this is my first issue as publisher for Birmingham Life, I thought it would be appropriate to answer a few questions about the magazine and myself.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Huntington Woods, MI (another special community) and graduated from Michigan State University. The week after college I left for Atlanta to work for Turner Broadcasting in marketing, 23 years later, and in a blink of an eye found myself back home. I spent much of my time working in corporate marketing for large companies. My time in Atlanta, D.C., and Philadelphia were transformative, so many wonderful experiences and relationships built which I am forever grateful.
Why Birmingham Life?
Birmingham Life is part of the Lifestyle Publications Family which produces over 100 luxury-community magazines monthly across the county. Ironically, there was another Lifestyle publication in the town in Philadelphia where I most recently lived. I was so impressed with the publication, looked forward to getting it in my mailbox every month, and experienced first-hand the value it was bringing to our community for both the readers and local business partners. As someone that has worked in the online media & technology space, I love that Birmingham Life offers both a print and digital component that is best-in-class. We also pride ourselves on partnering with high-quality and trusted business partners. Oh and obviously, the Birmingham/Bloomfield community is outstanding too!
What are the first things that come to mind when you think of Atlanta, D.C., and Philly?
Atlanta: The south always has a special place in my heart, it is where I learned to spread my wings as an adult, met my husband, Evan, and had both my children Ariella and Zimry.
D.C.: I remember coming out of CVS and Donald Rumsfeld (former Secretary of Defense) was just on an evening stroll with his wife. That is a typical D.C. moment.
Philadelphia: If you have ever seen the movie ‘Silver Linings Playbook’? The passion for the Eagles is like none other.
A few Favorite mottos: Consistency is Key, You can Do Hard Things, Trust the Process, Empathy is Everything.
