Located at 2850 W. 11 Mile Road in Berkley, Yad Ezra was founded to alleviate some financial burdens by distributing groceries to vulnerable Jewish families in Southeast Michigan. Since 1990, Yad Ezra’s doors have been open to provide kosher food to impoverished families; then, Yad Ezra served an average of 250 families monthly, but now the high-quality food pantry provides an average of 1,200 impoverished families with food, health care items and household goods every month. Additionally, Yad Ezra distributes appropriate foods that help enhance the clients’ celebration of every Jewish holidays, supports Jewish Day School lunch programs, arranges off-site deliveries for clients who are physically unable to come in, has a drive-thru window for those wishing to keep anonymity, offers financial assistance through the Harold and Mini Wade Simcha Fund for clients celebrating life cycle events and more. Hospitality House Food Pantry, which is located at 2075 E. West Maple Road (Suite B204) in Commerce Township, opened its doors in 2002. Its mission is to minimize deprivation in our community by providing food and assistance to those in need while maintaining the utmost respect for the dignity of the individual. Additionally, Hospitality House provides advice and aid to pantries in other cities as they work to fight hunger in the greater southeastern Michigan community.
