Pets are basically our children, let's face it, so why would you treat them any differently? Typically, that means giving your child a good snack and an even better snuggle. Same goes for your pup or kitty! Start with a good cuddle, and then, play with your angles. You can sit with them in your lap or pick them up and cradle them like a baby.

Provide a nice little exercise for them to loosen up and an activity for them to do; such as snack time, fetch, water play, or toy time. Next, get down to their level. Squatting, kneeling, or laying down will be your best angle to achieve those puppy portraits, but be ready to be quick! Dogs and cats have a tendency to be extremely fast and that means you need to be even faster. Anticipating the moment and knowing your animal is crucial in getting those amazing images. Always be one step ahead and don't be afraid to capture them in action!

Having a helping hand to coach your animal can help immensely. If you like action shots, have your dog play fetch back and forth with another person while you sit tight with a camera in hand.

Shutter speed is your best friend and most cameras are capable of some pretty cool things, so don't hesitate to snap away and see what you can capture. Happy snapping!
