Houston's newest restaurants make a case for brining joy back into the dining room.

Marmo, a modern Italian chophouse, opened in Montrose Collective this spring. Executive Chef Eli Jackson in partnership with Atlas Restaurant Group partner and executive chef Julian Marucci, teamed up to highlight an array of premium hand-cut steaks from local, domestic and international purveyors. Hand-rolled pasta is featured prominently on the menu, as well as an assortment of fresh seafood specialties. Located in the historic former Houston’s Restaurant space, highly anticipated restaurant The Warwick opened in April. With executive chef Antoine Ware at the helm, diners will delight in a mix of New American and Southern fare - a taste of dishes flavored with his Cajun roots. Menu favorites include Charbroiled Gulf Oysters, Snapper Orleans, Gulf Shrimp and Grits. For those nostalgic for Houston’s Restaurant - a selection of its famous dishes are featured on the menu, including a version of The Dip and the Houston Hawaiian Ribeye, which were popular at the former restaurant. The team behind Houston favorites Doris Metropolitan and Badolina Bakery recently opened a third concept, Hamsa. The modern Israeli restaurant is in Rice Village and features dishes rich with vegetables, spices, and one-of-a-kind flavor profiles. Shared plates are a menu focal point bringing chef Sash Kurgan’s approach to elevated Middle Eastern cuisine to the forefront. Executive pastry chef Michal Micheli of Badolina Bakery fame oversees the dessert offerings. In March, the Heights, a popular foodie destination known for its restaurant scene, got its first steakhouse. Patton’s, a boutique speakeasy-style steakhouse, is located inside Savoir restaurant.
