If you have ever watched a child take a walk in the woods then you will have most certainly noticed how unhurried their journey is. Stopping at every twist and turn to point out a bustling squirrel or to listen to a singing bird all while stuffing pockets with acorns and other natural treasures. Children are not hurried in the least; simply present and curious. I wish to keep that sense of wonder by slowing down and taking the time to notice beauty in the nature around me, especially this time of year. Join me in this exercise of curiosity by getting outdoors and playing with nature.

Naturally Dyed Eggs
To naturally dye eggs, create liquid dyes made from items found in your kitchen.
-
Blue: 4 cups shredded purple cabbage
-
Yellow: 2 tablespoons ground turmeric
-
Pink: 2 cans strained beets (no boiling or water needed).
-
Red-Brown: 4 cups chopped beets
-
Brown: 4 tablespoons ground coffee
-
Green: 6 cups spinach
On the stovetop, boil the ingredients in 4 cups of water for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and strain out vegetables or spices used. Stir in 2 tablespoons vinegar to the liquid and let cool. Once cool, steep hard-boiled eggs in each liquid dye for 5 minutes up to 24 hours depending on the color depth you wish to achieve.
