Toner Jewelers

Locally-owned Family Jewelry Store is Known for their Impeccable Service and Relationship with Clients

Kansas City native, Mike Toner was just 18 years old in 1980 when he started in the jewelry business. Thirty-eight years, six children and three grandchildren later, Toner Jewelers is still Johnson County’s iconic locally owned and operated family jewelry store.

His first store was at Loehmann’s Plaza shopping center where he formed hundreds of relationships with clients that have lasted to this day. To accommodate his growing base of customers, he made the move to College Blvd. and Metcalf where he operated and grew the business for another 20 years. Four years ago, he moved once again to the prestigious Prairiefire Shopping Center at 135th and Lamar. Through all the years Mike Toner has been a name Kansas Citians have come to know and trust in the jewelry business.

Mike’s warm smile is evident in his dealings with clients, and he continues to be as down-to-earth as he was when he first started out.

“The career path I chose provides a great deal of joy as I truly love helping clients find the right pieces of jewelry for all occasions. Treating clients like members of my own family is just who I am, and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Mike says.

The cornerstone of the original business was the purchasing of quality estate pieces and has always been one of Mike’s personal favorite things to spend time doing. Today, luxury bridal, the Toner Private Collection, fine fashion jewelry, pre-owned Rolex watches, and one-of-a-kind estate pieces are all staples in his store. The hand-selected pieces of merchandise from high-quality suppliers have made his store unique and a pleasurable place to shop in Overland Park.

Toner Jewelers’ loose diamonds are extremely high-quality and excellent values, and being certified from the Geological Institute of America ensures you can always trust that you are getting exactly what you want.

Another service provided at Toner Jewelers is the buying of precious metals.  In this day and age, many people are finding this to be a great way to deal with family heirlooms.

The staff at Toner Jewelers is very well-trained, and their 120 years of combined experience provide customers with the confidence they deserve in both jewelry selection and expert services offered. The store has an in-house master bench jeweler capable of all types of repairs, and a GIA-certified gemologist to grade and evaluate diamonds and colored stones. The entire sales staff is capable of assisting and guiding clients in finding the perfect piece and helping them make the correct repair decisions.

The fact that clients entrust Toner Jewelers with their valued possessions provides Mike with a great level of satisfaction. He says, “You simply don’t know how good a company’s service is until a problem arises. I just cannot sleep at night until each and every client is absolutely delighted with their experience with my store.”

Mike and his wife, Holly, reside in Leawood and put a priority on spending time with their family. His grandchildren are the light of his life, and he loves spending time with each of them whenever possible.

Also included in the family are their two rescue dogs, Elvis and Chloe. The fair treatment of animals is very close to their hearts. Some days you can meet Elvis in the store. He’s a friendly, handsome pup who will surely melt your heart.

Mike enjoys bowhunting and fishing with his father and brothers at the nearby family farm, and he and Holly enjoy traveling together when they find the time.
