Four Fab Summer Days

Pool hop

A new app, Swimply, is an Airbnb for backyard pools that you rent by the hour. Genius! Some include towels, dedicated restrooms, pool toys, grills and tennis courts. Nearby Johns Creek, there's a saltwater Swimply pool in Sugar Hill at $32 per hour. The large pool has a diving board, lounge chairs, games and a mini fridge. In Alpharetta, book a pool and jacuzzi in a private natural backyard at the end of a cul-de-sac in Windward. BYO snacks and beverages and stay an hour or all day. Swimply.com

Float the Hooch

The Chattahoochee River is a great place to float or fish on sunny afternoon or go for a spin on the multi-use trails in the Cochran Shoals unit. The 48 miles of river and 15 land units that make up the park can keep you busy for a whole day or just a few hours for a quick getaway from the fast pace of the city life. The river offers excellent opportunities for leisurely paddling a raft, canoe or kayak to observe wildlife and wildflowers, do some fishing, or simple relaxing recreation. When Buford Dam is not releasing water, the river is calm flat water with an occasional class I/II shoals or rapids. Currents can be strong around submerged rocks and jagged tree snags. Rubber-soled shoes are a must for tackling slippery rocks and the occasional broken glass bottle. Or volunteer to do clean-up.
