Cutting Edge Foot and Ankle Clinic is the culmination of years of planning, with the goal of providing accessible and compassionate foot care for patients. Founded by CEO Yerusalem Lanier, D.P.M., her team offers advanced, comprehensive podiatric care.
Dr. Lanier says her parents' foot troubles with diabetes and gout inspired in her the mission to provide the very best care, to relieve suffering and prevent complications related to feet ailments. "Staying on the cutting edge means providing the latest treatments, but also being there for people to answer questions and to guide them back to healthier lives. That's why we make every effort to get patients in as quickly as possible," she adds.
Cutting Edge Foot and Ankle Clinic now has five locations:
- Brentwood clinic, 1001 Health Park Drive, Suite 330.
- Skyline clinic, 3443 Dickerson Pike, Suite 740, Nashville.
- Whitehouse clinic, Crossroads Medical, 491 North Sage Road, White House.
- Pleasant View clinic, 254 Ren Mar Center Drive, Suite 100, Pleasant View.
- Downtown clinic, 2201 Murphy Ave., Suite 215, Nashville.
For the first few months of operations, Cutting Edge Foot and Ankle Clinic was led exclusively by Dr. Lanier. Renowned for her caring manner and procedural skills, she says she offers unprecedented comfortable cures for ingrown toenails and exceptional cosmetic and functional results for bunions and hammertoe deformities, and helps heal chronic wounds through the latest techniques.
Dr. Lanier graduated from Fisk University before going on to Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, and then on to surgical training of St Vincent Hospital Podiatric Residency in Worcester, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston.
Outside of work hours, she says she enjoys spending time with her husband, David, an emergency medicine physician, and their two daughters.
In addition to the work time outside of patient appointments, Dr. Lanier hosts an Apple podcast titled Med Nation to share information about current medicine and healthcare industry issues. During these podcasts, she and one of her colleagues, Dr. David Farnen, D.P.M., have meaningful discussions on relevant topics as well as interviewing guest experts and other podiatrists from around the world.
Top conditions to monitor and address as people age, says Dr. Lanier, include pain management, root causes, orthotic options, proper and supportive shoes for various situations, regenerative medicine, surgery applications when necessary, staying active and physical therapy to help rebalance muscular systems.
"We love keeping people on their feet, enjoying their lives, doing what they want to do," she adds.
