If one has lived in Williamson County long enough, one might remember the WAKM radio tower that stood on Mallory Station Road for more than 60 years. Like a lot of other beloved Middle Tennessee locations, history is getting new life breathed into it. In the location where Elvis once would “drop by” and country duo the Judds played frequently, a new active lifestyle, 55-plus community is being constructed. About 1.57 million adults aged 60 and older live in Tennessee now, and that number is projected to grow to 2.16 million by 2030, according to a new state report.

Slated to open this spring, Avenida Cool Springs allows residents to put all their energy into enjoying the day and focusing on healthy, purposeful living instead of the sometimes growing to-do list of owning a home. Offering one- and two-bedroom apartment homes, Avenida Cool Springs has all the conveniences of home and is pet-friendly. Water, trash, daily continental breakfast, scheduled transportation, semi-monthly housekeeping and a daytime concierge are included in rent. All the apartments have quartz countertops, stainless appliances and shaker-style cabinets. And outside these modern new quarters, the community awaits.

The premises have secure access, parking, 8,000 square feet of resort-inspired amenity space, storage options, garages, courtyards and an on-site guest suite that can be rented for $100 per day when needed. In addition, there is an on-site pool and spa, fitness center, yoga studio, theater, salon, bistro, creative arts studio and many multi-use community rooms.

Avenida Cool Springs is happy to have you customize your experience; add your own personal touch with custom window treatments, closet systems, lighting options, hardware or accent wall color to the already chic finishes. You can add additional housekeeping, catered meals, groceries, travel planning, on-demand transportation and many other optional services.

Outside of the physical space of Avenida Cool Springs, there is the resident enrichment program called Five to Thrive, which is derived from a study on aging done by the Mayo Clinic. Five key areas have been determined to have a direct impact on healthy aging: Life Activity, Material Security, Physical and Functional Fitness, Cognitive Efficacy and Social Resources. The AvenidaLife program is thoughtfully put together to support healthy aging while having fun. There is access to support groups, vocational opportunities, intergenerational activities, creative arts, fitness classes, financial planning and more.

At Avenida, becoming part of the community will be easy. Instead of worrying about personal home maintenance and the other things aging brings like nutritional, financial, housing and health care needs, the focus will be making the most of the next phase of life. Engaging in social events, intellectual quests, creative undertakings and physical activity can promote a happier, healthier and longer life all while remaining in the beloved Franklin community.
