Rachel Leasure is really into fitness and feeling her best. After having her daughter, she lost 85 pounds and was working out two hours a day, six days a week. But she still wasn’t completely satisfied with her body, and decided to take advantage of plastic surgery.
“I had what they call a mommy makeover, which is specific to each patient,” she says. “I had a breast augmentation and a mini tummy tuck. I already had smaller breasts, but after losing weight, they went down to nothing. I also had a lot of excess skin from the weight loss that no matter what exercises I did in the gym or how healthy I ate, the skin just wasn’t going anywhere.”
Rachel needed to find a reputable practice and a doctor she could feel confident in because she had a lot of anxiety about surgery, especially anesthesia. So, she did her research and ended up going to an open house at Cool Springs Plastic Surgery.
“I went to their panel and I heard Dr. [Konrad] Sarosiek talk about what he does,” she says. “What really stood out for me is that he didn’t talk about the physical aspects of plastic surgery, but instead talked about how passionate he was about helping moms get their bodies back."
“When I had my consultation with him, he sat with me for an hour and a half. He answered all my questions, and he was just so informative and calming. I went from being scared of surgery to feeling comfortable in his hands," she adds.
Rachel says she also was impressed with the office and other staff. “It’s a beautiful office, and the whole staff there -- not just the doctors, but the front desk receptionists, the nurses -- everybody is so kind.”
She had toured the operating room during the open house, and says it looks like something seen in a big hospital, very modern and clean. “What I think is unique about this practice, is that after surgery you actually get the doctor’s cell phone number. I could text or call Dr. Sarosiek at any hour and he would respond immediately to answer any questions. So everything was just as great as before surgery.”
The recovery process was somewhat frustrating for her because she had to stay in bed and rest. “You definitely have to be committed to the recovery process, and I think that’s one of the hardest things for someone who is active and doesn’t want to lie in bed for days.”
She was cleared to go back to the gym three weeks after surgery on a limited basis. After another week, she was allowed to do more intense exercises. “It really did fly by,” says Rachel. “It’s a short amount of time and then the results last forever.”
When all the bandages were removed, she said she was in shock when she first saw herself. “He not only exceeded my expectations, but I never imagined it would be as good as it was. I didn’t think it was possible. Even after my weight loss, there was a lot of clothing I couldn’t wear because of my excess skin, and now I feel like I can wear cute clothes, and I love stuff like that.”
Cool Springs also offers many non-surgical procedures, such as HydraFacials, injectables and laser treatments. Rachel decided to take advantage of some of these services as well. "I started seeing Olivia, one of the nurse injectors there,” she says. After having just two visits with Olivia, I saw major changes in my face and it wasn’t obvious where other people would notice, but I could tell. I think Olivia does a really good job of getting very natural results so that made me want to keep up with it.”
Rachel also invested in their medical grade skin care. “I used to have really red skin and would always have to wear a lot of foundation, and now I can go places without makeup and I feel comfortable.”
She feels the main reason people don’t get plastic surgery is the cost. “I get that because it’s a big investment, but it’s worth every single penny. So if anybody is on the fence, know that it’s life-changing. It’s an investment in yourself. It's not just the physical; it’s about being comfortable in your skin.”
Since 1994, under the leadership of Drs. John Moore and Konrad Sarosiek, Cool Springs Plastic Surgery has been a leading provider for aesthetic services in the Greater Nashville area, with two plastic surgeons and more than 11 aesthetic providers.
