In late October, people will gather in Downtown Chandler to “party for a cause.”
The 8th Annual Second Base Pub Crawl will take place Fri., Oct. 22 through Sat., Oct. 23.
Event Organizer Darwin Wall says proceeds from the event will raise money for a local woman who is fighting breast cancer.
“Breast cancer affects so many people, and I personally didn’t realize that until we started doing this event and were looking for recipients,” Wall says, adding that he and his team have been busy for months planning the pub crawl. “Hearing their stories; meeting their families; and seeing what they go through mentally, personally, and financially was a big eye-opener for me.”
Each ticket will get participants one drink at each of the stops on the tour, a State48 event T-shirt, and a grab bag of goodies. So far, Craft 64, SanTan Brewing Company, Murphy’s Law Irish Pub, BlackSheep Wine Bar & Merchant, Bourbon Jacks American Tavern, and The Local Chandler have committed to the event.
Wall says the pub crawl is a “win/win” type of event, because it is supporting a great cause in a fun way.
“The event means a lot to the recipient, as you can imagine,” Wall says.
“When we have the opportunity to meet them and hear their stories there isn’t a dry eye in the room. It really tugs at your heartstrings. Even with insurance, the financial burden that cancer causes is tremendous. We are grateful to be able to help out and wish we could do more.”
