Scottsdale's Best Kept Secret Offers Exclusive European Men's Clothing and Accessories

William Nasralla is passionate about fashion and design. The moment you walk into the upscale men’s retail shop on the west end of Main Street in Kierland Commons, you understand his passion.

“It’s a symphony of color,” he explains.

Born in Egypt, Nasralla moved with his parents to Toronto at age 13. When in college there, he studied textile and fashion design, later receiving an apprenticeship to study in Europe after graduation. He worked with some of the world’s best designers, including Emilio Pucci in Italy and Pierre Balmain in Paris.

Upon returning to Canada, he worked as a buyer for a large Canadian company that had stores across the continent from Montreal to Vancouver. For a decade, he operated his own store in Toronto before better weather beckoned.

“I was not happy about the weather in Toronto,” he laughs. “I was born in Cairo, Egypt, so maybe I wanted to get back to my roots and return to the desert.”

Nasralla arrived in Scottsdale in 1993, unsure about the future.

“I left my business in Toronto to my partner, and I came here and started from zero. It was a very humbling experience. I really did not know much about the market here, but I knew I had the taste level to create something.

“I’m the opposite of conservative,” says Nasralla, explaining that bright colors of purple, yellow, pink, and peacock blue fill his shelves.

His clients are very discriminating, demanding something unique and something different.

“And that’s what I’ve offered them since day one,” he says.

Now, 27 years later, customers seek out Nasralla for his unique designs and high-quality fabrics.

“I design about 70% of my product,” he explains. “I go to Italy twice a year. I start from scratch. I go to the mills where I pick my fabrics. I have factories I’ve dealt with in Italy for more than 35 years. They create my designs to my specifications.”

When a customer walks into DaVinci Luxe, they find clothing they won’t find anywhere else in the world. Nasralla says that exclusivity is what his clients most want.

“Once you shop with me, you don’t go anywhere else.”

Personalized service is at the core. You must go into the store in Kierland Commons—or at the newest location in Biltmore Fashion Park—to purchase items. Nothing is sold online.

“The entertainment of shopping in my store is important,” he says. “My clients come for two, three hours sometimes to buy wardrobes. I know what looks good on them, because this is what I’ve studied over the years, so they trust my judgment.”

The Italian handmade jackets are in big demand. Crafted in Naples from a blend of lamb’s wool and silk to enhance the masculine figure, each handmade jacket takes between 25 and 30 hours, perfectly blending craftsmanship and artistry. The shirts are also handmade in Italy of exquisite material.

“I go to great lengths to ensure my clients wear shirts that have the highest level of quality uniqueness and design exclusivity,” he explains.

About 20 years ago, Nasralla added perfumes for men and women to his collection. Every two to three years, he travels to Grasse, a charming town north of Cannes in the French hillsides known for its importance in the perfume industry.

“I even designed my own bottles,” he explains, pointing out gorgeous crystal decanters covered with Swarovski crystals.

“I’ve traveled the world many times over,” Nasralla reflects. “I know it’s been a great life for me. I love dressing men, and that really is my mission in life. Dressing men. Making them look great.” He smiles. “And you know, that’s what women love about me—I make their guys look great.”

Nasralla stands back and looks around his shop with the rainbow of colors.

“Color is the soul of my collections. For me, color is number one. Life is too short to wear boring clothes.” DavinciLuxe.com
