Toy Barn - Chandler's Newest

Where Grown-Ups Stash Their Toys in Arizona

Toy Barn - Luxury Garage and Storage

Toy boxes aren’t mere storage containers. They’re childhood dream-keepers, brimming with wonderous things. They keep treasures safe. But as kids grow, so do their toys. Grown-ups need a place for their wonders too, and when a box won’t do, there’s always Toy Barn.

Toy Barn offers high-end, luxury garage ownership to store goodies like hot rods, classic cars, boats and recreational vehicles. Some people call them a garage condo, others prefer man cave or she shed.

“People have individual ownership, just like a condominium. They can fix them up, store stuff, or just hang out. We see a lot of hobbyist and enthusiasts,” says Jason Phillips, the owner and developer of Toy Barn.

Chandler will be home to the fifth Toy Barn in the Valley. They’ll be breaking ground in December at a site near the airport. The 66 units are scheduled for completion next fall.

“We are pushing a country club atmosphere for car enthusiasts in the community. It’s not just some garage where people can park their cars and collectibles. We’re lifestyle focused and trying to create a community within each of our facilities for like-minded individuals,” says Jason. “That concept is really working. Not everyone wants to play golf.”

Like the other Toy Barns, Chandler’s will be fully fenced with 24-hour access, security, owner’s lounge and a long list of customizable features. They range from 1,000-3,000 square feet, and all units have high speed internet, cable, plumbing and options for climate control.

Country Club Amenities and Event Space

The owner’s lounge is a 2,000-square-foot, fully furnished club house. A roll-up glass garage door leads to a well-appointed lounge with a kitchen, restrooms and wet bar. “We hosted a party at the Lone Mountain location and had close to 300 people. There’s a huge patio area with seating and it’s designed to display cars,” he says. Toy Barn uses the space for member activities like its monthly Cars and Coffee event, and owners can utilize the lounge for parties and special events.

“A lot of our buyers are relocating to Arizona from other parts of the country. Our clients are a more sophisticated age demographic,” explains Jason. “We’re a good option for people looking to downsize but who don’t want to get rid of all their belongings.”

Luxury Space For More Than Cars

Some owners, who still like to play, have turned their garages into dream forts. Jason said one of the most extravagant units at one of the other locations is decked out with barnwood walls. The owner uses it as an entertainment space. The full bathroom is laid with subway tile, there’s a wet bar, and an island with granite countertops. He has multiple televisions, custom flooring and lighting, and a mezzanine. “He could live in it for sure,” says Jason. “Some of these guys in Scottsdale, they go all out.”

Toy Barn is a family business that was first developed in 2010 by Jason and his father, Paul Phillips.

“We were just real estate developers from Ohio looking for an opportunity in Arizona, and the opportunity stumbled into our lap,” he says.

Paul has a garage condo for his toys, too. He stores his vintage Indian motorcycles. Paul opted for a mezzanine and has finished his unit with flooring, paint and cabinetry. “We have a list of preferred vendors we’ve been using for 10 years [to customize the garages]. But owners can always bring in their own people,” explains Jason.

Luxury Tours In-Person or Virtual

People can tour a garage model at the Scottsdale location or check out a virtual reality presentation of the Chandler Toy Barn at ToyBarnStorage.com.

“It’s going to be a first of its kind in Chandler for sure,” says Jason.
