If you’ve always had the idea that a country club is stuffy and formal, with dress codes and high-browed people, you wouldn’t be more wrong about Bogey Hills Country Club in St. Charles. And if your connotation of the country club as mainly a fancy hangout for male golfers, you haven’t been to Bogey Hills.
While golf is, of course, its mainstay, Bogey Hills offers dining and social memberships that include activities for the entire family. It’s truly a home away from home. And a place where adults, teens and kids can make great memories and lifelong friendships.
Since opening its doors in 1962, the Walters family – now in its third generation of ownership--has evolved to take into account the needs and desires of millennials and their families. There are summer camps for the children, a year-round Kids Klub, swimming pool with DJ Parties, as well as Wine Dinners for the adults.
The completely remodeled Club (following the fire of 2017) has many state-of-the-art features, including a 42-course golf simulator and a fitness center, which are both part of the Sports Membership.
Even if golf isn’t your thing, the Social Membership includes all of the above amenities and offers three different dining rooms to enjoy. The Bogey Room is a family-friendly, beautifully appointed restaurant, while the casual Bogey Bistro provides a fun place to grab a quick bite after a workout or golf game. The Lounge (sans children) is another great place to hang out anytime.
But you don’t have to be a member to take advantage of the Country Club’s beautiful facilities.
“The public can reserve a variety of spaces for anything from parties and weddings to corporate meetings and conferences. There’s a wide variety of room configurations, all of which overlook the stunning golf course and grand waterfall,” said Nancy Cavazos, Director of Corporate Meetings & Events.
“The Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 300 people. You’ll be treated exactly like a member – with exceptional service, an assigned event concierge, audio visual assistance, and customized, chef-designed menus.”
Every guest is treated as family at Bogey Hills…an extension of its rich history and founding morals. With Angel Walters Likens, granddaughter of founder Doc Walters, serving as general manager, that is not surprising. Dennis Walters, Angel’s father, remains active with the Club. Denny Walters Jr. is the Club’s head teaching instructor, and their uncle, Chris Tsevis, is clubhouse manager.
Long-time members Keith and Jeanne Liston say they’ve always felt at home at Bogey Hills and consider it an extension of their family.
“We have been members since 2007 and Jeanne’s family since the inception, so Bogey Hills has been a big part of our lives," says Keith. "All the amenities, a top-rated golf course, pool and especially the new clubhouse, are wonderful. However, what draws us to the Club are the people and friendships that have evolved over the years. Whether it be a casual round of golf or a nice dinner, it’s great to be welcomed by friendly staff and familiar faces. We always run into friends any time we frequent Bogey Hills, which is often!”
So, forget the pretentious country club perception. At Bogey Hills, you’ll find authentic relationships and friendly, premier service.
