Nothing says romance like sweeping views under the tranquility of a boundless Texas sky. Jumping Goat Ranch gives you a front-row seat in rustic luxury, with five unique love nests that would make even Cupid flutter! Two standout love nests are Angora and The Treehouse.
Nestled atop a hill, Angora is the peak of enchantment. With every modern luxury - and plenty of thoughtful creature comforts - couples will find everything necessary for time away, together. From quiet country sunrises on the porch to breathtaking nights in the hot tub under a starry Texas sky, it is easy to fall in love all over again - whether it's your first excursion as a couple or your 50th wedding anniversary. The Angora is the most private of all the guest houses and features a Jacuzzi bathtub.
The Treehouse embodies a whimsical charm built around a mature tree with a broad canopy of leaves. The young and young-at-heart will appreciate the nostalgic nudge toward a time when nothing mattered but each other. Guests can share memorable moments together, admiring the Texas Hill Country from above, the plush comfort inside, or the warmth of the crackling fire outside. It is the perfect, endearing paradise for two.
One of our team was provided the opportunity to experience Jumping Goat Ranch with an overnight stay in Angora. The Ranch is an easy drive to downtown Fredericksburg, just ten minutes away. “It was a nice country drive with open land and the Ranch nestled among trees with a panoramic view. From the comfort of the living room sofa or in the quiet, soothing country air on the spacious deck, the views were spectacular! The space was very well-appointed, even with extra Keurig coffee cups. Hot tub stargazing was a treat! The cabins reflect the care and attention of owner Lisa Rogers who carefully appointed and designed each interior. All the cabin designs are elevated, with a Hill Country cabin feel on the outside. The owners ensure the tranquility of space by limiting the number of guests and children.”
The Rogers purchased the 53 acres of Jumping Goat Ranch, and built five houses and a barn. They moved there full-time last Summer. The majority of guests come from larger cities like Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin. There are plans to build more cabins and add more goats and other animals in the future. www.jumpinggoatranch.com
While there, if you don’t want to cook on the outdoor grills provided, you can enjoy wonderful meals in Fredericksburg. You must try the authentic German cuisine restaurants along Main Street. Some of the best ones include: Altdorf Restaurant & Biergarten; Otto’s German Bistro; The Ausländer Restaurant & Biergarten; Der Lindenbaum; Rathskeller; Altstadt Brewery; and Fredericksburg Brewing Company. We can recommend Hill + Vine for dinner; they have great desserts and reasonable prices. Reservations recommended. For a more elevated dining experience, there is August E’s. Vaudeville Bistro provided a wonderful lunch of soups and sandwiches. And we can't forget Hondo's on Main and their delicious burgers and Texas music.
Jumping Goat Ranch can be a home base for your Valentine's Day weekend or spending a romantic weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the "real world". From wineries to tasting rooms to vineyards, the area in and around Fredericksburg has a wealth of beautiful scenery and fabulous wines of all kinds. The Texas Wine Trail map boasts over 50 unique and visually stunning wineries scattered throughout the Hill Country, from Austin to Fredericksburg and Lampasas to New Braunfels.
And don't forget the plethora of lovely shops in Fredericksburg, all within walking distance from anywhere on Main Street. From international goods to handmade articles from local artisans to upscale art galleries, you would be hard-pressed to visit all in one day!
