If you follow my page, @kclocalevents, you already know that I am obsessed with supporting local Kansas City businesses. Being in these unprecedented times, it is vital to support local businesses as much as we can. So, strap on that mask and head to Crown Center!
Have you all gone out to Crown Center and really looked around? It is full of local goodies! Baby Johnny and I took a little trip out there to go see how local businesses are doing in the midst of this global pandemic and all of them were very positive! My first stop was at Function Junction. Okay, I won’t lie…. I did not know of this wonderful spot. I got to speak with Mary, the owner, and she was so sweet and helpful!
Function Junction opened in 1977. WOW. Their Kansas City location was their first and now is their only. This little kitchenware store is just too cute for words! They have anything and everything you could possibly want for your at-home cooking experience! They also have a huge kitchen in the back where they would cook meals during the day and people could come get lunch for $5!! This was pre-pandemic, of course. I left absolutely in love with spot!
Mary’s response to the pandemic was very positive. They are kicking butt! Everyone is cooking from home more often and with that, comes kitchenware needs! It is a great time for spending some quality mealtime with your family. They also have a plethora of kids cooking gear as well! So if you are needing a day time activity with your kid, look no further!
I was also able to stop by Best of Kansas City, which is a must-see spot for any Kansas City visitor or just a KC lover, like myself. They have a wide variety of super cute local finds! Anything from BBQ sauces (A MUST) to Wizard of Oz souvenirs (We aren’t in Kansas anymore…. but we have Kansas spirit!). I ended up buying Johnny a pair of Chiefs kicks and a Drink Local sign to hang by our at-home bar!
There are many other local stops in Crown Center that you should go see. It is SO worth it! We will definitely be going back soon!
