Former Cadbury CEO Lists Waterfront Florida Home for $20 Million
Todd Stitzer spent nearly $12 million building the six-bedroom, roughly 11,800-square-foot property on Casey Key.
The former chief executive officer of the candy company Cadbury is listing his waterfront home on Casey Key in Florida’s Sarasota County for $20 million.
The sellers are Todd Stitzer and his wife, Marenda Stitzer, who moved to the area after Mr. Stitzer’s departure from the company, said Ms. Stitzer. Mr. Stitzer was CEO of the company, which is now owned by Mondelez International, from 2003 to 2010.
The Stitzers bought a lot on Casey Key in 2011 for $2.225 million and built a six-bedroom, roughly 11,800-square-foot home modeled after a yellow clapboard house they saw on their Bermuda honeymoon in 1977, Mr. Stitzer said. They spent about $11.75 million building the house, which was completed in 2014, he said.
Their roughly 1-acre property spans Casey Key from Blackburn Bay to the Gulf of Mexico, said Valerie Dall’Acqua of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, who has the listing with colleague Lisa Napolitano. On the bay side, the property has an infinity-edge pool, a gazebo and a boat dock. An elevated boardwalk and a cabana are on the gulf side of the property, which is intersected by Casey Key’s main road, said Ms. Dall’Acqua.
Designed by Naples-based Herscoe Hajjar Architects, the H-shaped house surrounds a central courtyard with a fountain. The front door opens with brass mermaid and mermen door handles from the Stitzers’ personal collection, which are included in the sale of the house.
Ms. Stitzer said during their marriage the two have restored, renovated or built six homes, and they are selling because they are eager to begin a new project, although they haven’t decided where it will be. They also have homes in Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
Mr. Stitzer said he would miss sipping Champagne on the front porch while watching the sunset over the gulf. Ms. Stitzer said she preferred the porch off the primary bedroom, which overlooks the bay.
In March, the median sale price of a single-family home in Sarasota County rose 28.4% year-over-year to $487,500, according to the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee.
