Through what started as a way to honor her late grandparents, Stephanie Simpson delivers daily doses of mental health boosts along with the healing power of positivity with her non-profit, 901 POP! If you have ever wondered what becomes of the breathtaking arrangements from weddings and events come clean-up time, thanks to Simpson and a divine spark over a floral arrangement received at work (by day she can be found working as Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer at NewSouth Capital), they now have a second chance at life! Many generous brides and hosts opt to repurpose their blooms and re-invest in lifting someone else up.
Simpson's army of volunteers assemble post-event to harvest blooms and assemble arrangements in donated vases, craft hand written notes of encouragement and finally deliver their creations to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, memory care units, hospice homes, cancer treatment centers, grief care groups, adults with special needs, foster families, and more! Even the volunteer experience encourages connection as family and friends serve together or simply show up and make a new friend.
"Serving others is part of the equation for emotional and psychological well-being," says Simpson. "It is uplifting to contribute to a purpose that benefits others. In addition to 901 POP’s positive impact on volunteers, the bouquets and hand-written notes contribute to the mental well-being of the recipients. I can’t wait to get back to the personal deliveries that we have paused due to the pandemic. These interactions between volunteers and recipients are the best part of the whole process!"
The group recently received 501(c)3 approval from the IRS and they have plans to continue building their capacity. "One of the main goals for the next year is to develop a fundraising strategy. We have many ideas we want to put into action but are pacing ourselves to ensure that as we grow, we are becoming a sustainable organization," says Simpson.

"When I think of wellness, the first world that pops into my head is balance – seeking balance by focusing on mental (including spiritual and emotional) as well as physical well-being. I strive to find balance, and it’s a constant challenge. Some days are better than others, but I believe all aspects of physical and mental wellness are important for a healthy, fulfilling and meaningful life."
