We spoke to Zain Moosa, owner of Flowers of Marietta, about beautiful bouquets for your spring celebrations. Zain resided in the United Arab Emirates for more than a decade, crediting his time there for showing him the freedom and joy of entrepreneurship. After moving to the United States, Zain encountered a local flower shop, which he felt drawn to for its beauty, versatility and customer service. When the time came, he purchased the shop, and it has “blossomed” in the Cobb area and beyond ever since.
From Mother’s Day to graduation, flowers represent momentous occasions, and Zain enjoys the creativity and the hard work of the team as they wow customers with flowers on a daily basis. He shares with East Cobb Lifestyle tips for selecting and protecting your arrangement.
What flowers are hardy and stay beautiful longer?
My advice is to choose flowers with clean, strong stems. Reject flowers with soft, discolored stems. Discoloration indicates bacteria have entered and will move upward to contaminate the leaves and flowers as they multiply. Also, skip flowers with slime on the stems or broken stems.
How does a recipient care for fresh-cut florals?
To ensure your flowers last, start by cleaning the vase and filling it two-thirds with fresh, lukewarm water and flower food. Remove foliage that will sit below the waterline, and trim the stems at a 45-degree angle. Change the water regularly after the second day, and keep flowers out of direct sunlight. Placing your arrangement in the fridge overnight will also help extend the flowers’ life. Finally, remove any wilted flowers to prevent the spread of mold.
What special items do you offer?
With every transaction, we provide customers with the opportunity to enhance purchases by adding delectable chocolates and delightfully fragranced candles. Flowers Of Marietta is proud to offer a selection of thoughtfully curated gift baskets to complement our stunning floral arrangements.
