A Brand-New, State-of-the-Art Facility
Active Dog recently put in a brand-new, state-of-the-art, 9,600-square-foot building. The new building features extra-large dog rooms so each guest has plenty of room to eat, sleep, chew a bone or do whatever they may like to do in their downtime.
The new building also features a spacious grooming room with three tubs and a walk-in shower so dogs can return home fresh and clean after their time away.
More Room to Get Comfy
One of the most exciting features of the new space is how much room dogs now have to really settle in and get comfy. Active Dog has never believed in crating dogs when they stay unless owners request it, making the large rooms one of the best new features of the facility.
Have a household of three Bernese Mountain Dogs? They can all comfortably fit in the new rooms.
The Hikes Are Better Than Ever
Dogs still hike directly on the farm property. Active Dog has added a few extra fenced-in acres to the trail, making it longer with access to different streams along the way for the hotter months.
There are also several play yards where dogs can stretch their legs when they aren't hiking.
Safety, Supervision and Smaller Groups
Active Dog has completely redone the way playtimes and group sizes are handled. Dogs are in groups of no more than 15 at a time, with a Pack Pro-trained staff member supervising at all times.
This allows staff to have more one-on-one time with each dog and make sure everyone is happy and comfortable. Dogs are also separated by size so large and extra-large dogs have a proper play match.
All Farm Staff are Pack Pro Certified, and the management team is CPR and First Aid Certified.
Why Trial Nights Matter
Some dogs that have never boarded before, or boarded in a different style of kennel, may find being thrown into a brand-new space very overwhelming, especially if their first stay is for a long stretch.
That is why all dogs are required to complete a one-night trial night. Active Dog has found this makes a huge difference in helping dogs get used to the space, the staff and the new routine. Once dogs have passed their trial night, they are welcome to come back for any length of time.
If a dog seems a little nervous or on edge during the trial, a short weekend stay is recommended before any week-long bookings.
The Comforts of Home
Each dog comes with their own food so they can maintain the same diet they have at home, helping reduce the chance of upset tummy troubles.
Owners are also welcome to send a toy, bone or blanket from home. Active Dog also keeps blankets and bones on hand for dogs that seem to be missing home a little too much.
First-time boarders receive their own stall and can keep food bowls with them overnight if they are more of a grazer.
What Surprises Owners Most
A lot of dogs returning home from boarding are TIRED. They are getting a ton of stimulation and probably a lot more exercise than they are used to, so don't be surprised if they come home and knock out for a few hours.
Planning a Pawcation
Many people now plan vacations around their pets, and Active Dog now takes boarding reservations six months in advance. If you have a trip planned within that timeframe, they recommend booking your dog's pawcation when you book your own.
