“A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tries to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero is someone who saves people and who really deeply cares.”
Debi Mazar
Some people were born to lead a life of service.
Spencer Bristol was one such individual.
After graduating from Station Camp High School in 2007, Spencer entered the U.S. Navy, where he served as a corpsman until receiving an honorable discharge in 2012. After leaving the Navy, Spencer continued his service by joining the Hendersonville Police Department.
During the early years, Spencer worked as a patrol officer. Over time, his dedication and hard work led to increasing levels of responsibility, including a recent promotion to Master Patrol Officer.
“I never saw anyone who wanted to be a police officer as much as he did,” recalls Hendersonville Police Chief Mickey Miller.
Spencer’s enthusiasm and his work ethic were always on display. Everyone who met him came away with the feeling that he was going places.
Unfortunately, Spencer’s bright career ended too soon, as he lost his life in the line of duty, leaving behind a wife and a three-year-old daughter.
Spencer’s passing was felt throughout Hendersonville, where the community rallied together to pay their respects. Friends and neighbors throughout the city opened up their hearts to express their support for Spencer and for all other police, fire and first responder personnel. They also opened up their pocketbooks, creating fundraisers that raised money to help support Spencer’s family.
We at Hendersonville Lifestyle want to pass on our condolences to the Bristol family and we want to express our gratitude for the generous and caring spirit that makes the City by the Lake such a special place.
