For Ashley Miller, Frisco is more than the place she calls home. It’s a community she is passionate about serving. As Senior Director of Communications and National Spokesperson for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, a local leader, wife, and mom, Ashley shares how family, faith, and a desire to give back continue to shape her life and work.
How long have you called Frisco home, and what do you love most about raising your family here?
I’ve called Frisco home since 2009, and what I love most is that even with all the incredible growth, it still has that small-town feel. There’s a real sense of pride here and a genuine desire to see one another succeed. Frisco has given my family, and especially my kids, so many opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive. I’m incredibly proud to call Frisco home.
Tell us about your role with the National Breast Cancer Foundation and what makes the work especially meaningful to you.
I have the incredible privilege of serving as Senior Director of Communications and National Spokesperson for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I get to use media and storytelling to further our mission of Helping Women Now and make sure women know they are not alone in their breast cancer journey. What makes it especially meaningful is knowing my kids are watching. They think their mom is a superhero because I get to help women, and there’s no greater compliment than that. At the end of the day, everything we do is about making sure no one navigates breast cancer alone.
You’re involved with several local nonprofit organizations and business networks. What motivates you to stay so connected to the Frisco community?
I’m grateful to serve on the Frisco Parks & Recreation Board and the Frisco Chamber Foundation Board and to stay involved with organizations like Melody of Hope and Leadership Frisco. My faith is also a huge part of why I serve. I believe the Lord calls us to use the time and talents He has given us to serve others. For me, it’s about showing up, building relationships, connecting people, and doing whatever small part I can to make Frisco even better.
How do you balance your career, community involvement, and life as a wife and mom?
Simply put, I don’t! I have an incredible tribe of people who constantly help me keep all the plates spinning. Whether it’s dividing and conquering at home, carpooling with sports moms, or leaning on my people so no one skips a beat, it truly takes a village. I’ve also learned the value of my “no.” Every yes costs time somewhere else, so I try to prioritize what matters most to me, especially my family and the people I love. And coffee. Lots of coffee.
Who is a woman who has influenced or inspired you, either personally or professionally?
The two women who have influenced me most are my late mom and my daughter, Finley. I lost my mom a little over a year ago, and so much of who I am today came from watching her. She was a single mom who worked incredibly hard, often juggling multiple jobs, and somehow never seemed to miss a beat. She taught me that hard work isn’t something you talk about. It’s something you live. She showed me what strength, sacrifice, and showing up for the people you love really look like. And now I get to see that same kind of grit in my daughter. Finley is incredibly determined and hardworking, especially in academics and sports. I watch her get knocked down, get back up, work harder, and keep going, and it inspires me. One helped shape the woman I am, and the other inspires the woman I’m still becoming.
When you have a little time to yourself, what’s your favorite way to spend it?
If the LSU Tigers or New Orleans Saints are not playing, I love the simple things. Give me a cup of coffee, a quiet porch, and a little time to slow down, and I’m happy. I also love watching my kids do what they love, spending time with my friends and family, and sneaking away to our lake house when we can. I’ve learned that time is our greatest gift, so my favorite way to spend it is simply being present with the people I love most.
