A Home for the Holidays

Friends of Animal Services is helping pets find loving homes.

When Pasco County Animal Services became a no kill shelter, it faced mounting expenses to find homes for all the animals overfilling their shelter. Friends of Animal Services was created to help stem the tide and work to help find pets loving homes and take care of those still waiting for their forever home. Michael Shumate, Director of Pasco County Animal Services, shares how they help and how you can too!

How do Friends of Pasco County Animal Services help fill your biggest needs?

It costs a lot to get animals healthy enough to adopt. They come with hair loss, skin disorders, maybe a broken leg or with parasites. Many come in with heartworms, and that’s costly. It takes a while to get animals healthy enough to clear for adoption. Friends have provided additional medical instruments, equipment and medications to get those animals treated, and give them a much higher chance of getting adopted.

How can the community help?

We need adopters to give the animals a chance. We currently have close to 200 dogs and well over 50 cats in our care, all looking for loving homes for the holidays.

Visit fpcas.org to learn more about how you can donate or volunteer to make a difference in the lives of animals who need a loving home. You can also find donation boxes at the shelter. This is a volunteer organization, and all funds go to help the animals.
