With 48 years of experience in the flooring industry, Tony’s journey began as a part-time job and blossomed into a thriving family business. His commitment to customer service and high-quality products has earned both Hoffman and Park Ridge Floor & Home loyal followings in their respective neighborhoods.

Tony Sicilia’s entrance into the flooring business was far from planned. After earning a college degree and pursuing aspirations to attend law school, Tony found himself working at a carpet store in the 1970s. What began as a part-time job turned into a full-time passion. Over the years, he honed his craft, learning the ins and outs of the industry, climbing the ranks, and eventually deciding to open his own store. In 1998, with the help of his wife, Kathy, they established Hoffman Floor & Home in Westwood, followed by Park Ridge Floor & Home in nearby Park Ridge, expanding their reach and presence across the region.

The stores quickly became local favorites, known for their personalized service and top-notch products. Tony’s decision to venture out on his own was driven by his desire for more control over his career and the ability to provide for his growing family. Today, his son-in-law and son play vital roles in the business, with his son Anthony heading operations and overseeing jobs on a daily basis. "Our staff brings a wide range of skills to the table. In addition to Anthony and Ed, my “nephew by association,” Jason, is a color-coordination specialist. Ginny, who handles our Park Ridge location, is a true maven when it comes to high-end carpeting products we have available," Tony mentions.

As the flooring industry has evolved, so too has Tony’s business. Today, Hoffman Floor & Home and Park Ridge Floor & Home specialize in a variety of flooring options, including luxurious carpeting, hardwood, and vinyl, along with custom stair runners and railings. Both showrooms are stocked with the latest designs and trends, ensuring the business stays ahead of customer demands.

In addition to the wide selection of flooring options, the stores also pride themselves on customer education and service. Tony has always believed that knowing the product inside and out is key to success. “We’re not just selling flooring; we’re helping people build their dream homes,” Tony says. “That’s what makes our work so rewarding.”

The company’s small, tight-knit team of eight employees, including back-office staff, ensures that each job, no matter how big or small, receives personalized attention. Tony’s son, Anthony, frequently works alongside the installers to ensure that the job is done right. It’s this level of attention to detail and hands-on involvement that has set Hoffman Floor & Home and Park Ridge Floor & Home apart from the competition.

A favorite moment for Tony was a lighthearted mishap that ended up being a defining customer service story for the business. Twenty-five years ago, a customer’s home was mistakenly “carpeted” by a neighboring homeowner’s house during a service call. Instead of getting upset, Tony’s team handled the mix-up by offering a hefty discount to the original customer, turning a small mistake into a lasting impression. This incident has since been remembered fondly as a key turning point for the business, cementing its reputation for great customer service.

“Years ago, we used to see the bulk of our business from Labor Day to Christmas Eve,” says Tony, the owner. “It was a crazy time, and we'd often be working around the clock to meet the demand. Now, things have changed.” In fact, Tony points out that the industry has transformed into an "11-month" cycle, as customer demand for home improvement is no longer confined to the last quarter of the year. “Now, we get business year-round, which is great for us and for our customers, who don’t have to rush into decisions,” he adds.
