Dr. Linda Katz is the sole provider at Fayette Chiropractic Center & Spinal Decompression in Fayetteville - a practice that goes beyond traditional chiropractic care. Open on Sundays, a significant convenience for busy individuals, her practice has expanded to offer treatments for neuropathy, leaky gut, metabolic syndrome, and red light therapy. Dr. Katz’s journey into healthcare is a story of perseverance, intuition, and an unyielding passion for patient care.
From Medical Assistant to Groundbreaking Chiropractor
With over 42 years in healthcare, Dr. Katz’s career began as a medical assistant, where she was unexpectedly fired - not for incompetence, but because she was told she was “too good” to stay in that position. Encouraged to pursue higher education, she was accepted into NYU’s nursing program, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and Nutrition along with her Bachelor’s in Nursing.
She worked her early years at Lenox Hill and Beth Israel hospitals, where her ability to think critically led to an unexpected dismissal from the nursing floor. She administered an IV she knew a patient desperately needed, despite it not yet being ordered. The move saved the patient’s life, and soon after, she was recruited to work in the ER department, where thinking on her feet was not just encouraged but required.
A Life-Changing Migraine and a New Calling
Her journey into chiropractic care was unplanned. While working in the ER, crippling migraines plagued her life. She suffered from swelling, vomiting, and excruciating pain. Traditional medicine could only offer her morphine, but it wasn’t addressing the root cause. A visit to a chiropractor changed everything.
During the adjustment, she was overwhelmed by the loud cracking sound, but she knew something significant had happened. After speaking to her mother, she learned she had fallen from a swing at age six and was presumed unconscious. The accident left her head tilted for years. It took 20 years for the migraines to manifest, proving that pain and dysfunction don’t always originate from recent injuries but can stem from long-term misalignments.
Within two weeks of chiropractic care, her migraines were gone. Inspired by this transformation, she dropped out of her master’s program to pursue chiropractic studies, eager to bring this kind of relief to others.
Expanding Into Holistic Wellness
Dr. Katz’s journey into nutrition and holistic wellness took a personal turn when she lost 80 pounds by addressing her leaky gut and food allergies. She eliminated inflammatory foods, adopted a healthier lifestyle, and saw incredible results.
She introduced neuropathy treatments and red light therapy, which boasts a 93-97% success rate. These treatments re-educate nerves and increase oxygenation, much like how plants thrive with sunlight, nutrients, and water. Dr. Katz explains, “Red light is your sunlight, our nutrition program is your nutrients, and our electrical program is your water - it rewires the circuits to restore function.”
Her spinal decompression therapy addresses herniated discs, stenosis, and sciatica by restoring hydration to the discs, improving mobility, and reducing pain. She emphasizes that insurance does not cover many of these treatments because "If insurance can’t control it, they won’t pay for it.” But that doesn’t stop her from offering affordable specials to make these life-changing treatments accessible.
A Doctor, A Mother, A Teacher
Beyond her practice, Dr. Katz’s personal life has shaped her compassionate approach. She is a single mother to a brain-injured daughter who has taught her the depths of unconditional love. She also adopted a child at age seven and has two step-sons. Through it all, her commitment to wellness and education remains unwavering.
Dr. Katz believes in empowering her patients with knowledge. Her goal is to get people off sugar and pharmaceuticals and onto a path of true health. She encourages clients to use tools like the Yuka app to scan and evaluate food choices.
