Karen knew at a young age that she had a passion for the spotlight. She began with singing and dancing onstage through her high school years. Once she started college, she found her niche to be that of acting.
Years later, Karen was blessed with motherhood and decided to switch gears with her career in order to best tend to her family.
She is now back on the stage and ready to entertain the masses. Her second show, A Little Night Music, debuted at Theatre Frisco July 26.
She stars as Desirée Armfelt.
When asked what appealed most to her about playing this character, Karen explained that this was an opportunity to play a strong leading lady that is unconventional in her ways for the timeframe this play is set. Desirée is a true romantic who never gives up hope for finding true love. Karen even stated that this role has been one on her “bucket list” of characters she’d love to play. Karen is looking forward to sharing the sentiment behind the beautiful lyrics of Stephen Sondheim. She suggests that he is one of the greatest composers of our time.
Frisky, fun and hopeful—these were the three words Karen chose to describe A Little Night Music. The play is a drama-filled journey filled with both the good and the bad moments we can experience while trying to find love. This includes the missed opportunities, the mistakes, never giving up hope and finally finding the right fit.
Karen wishes to continue with her love of acting by taking on more roles in local theaters. She hopes that people will look more into enjoying a night out with live theater entertainment.
“Theater comes to life when the audience reacts to the actors and actresses onstage.”
Make a night of it and come see Karen in action as you enjoy A Little Night Music. This play runs July 26-Aug. 11. For tickets and information, call 972.370.2266.
