Those looking for a fun, local dining experience should look no further than Urbano Enchilada Taco Bar in Flower Mound. With its handcrafted Tex-Mex cuisine, refreshing cocktails and beautiful patio setting with live entertainment on the weekends, Urbano has created the perfect trifecta.
“People have said we remind them of laid-back Austin style,” Owner Lynne Cerda says. “People are always commenting on our music playlist, which is everything from the 60s to present, all genres, all artists. It frequently takes people back in time, with a little reminiscing going on.”
Urbano’s patio area is a customer favorite. “We have an 1,800-square-foot patio that overlooks a greenbelt. It has lots of plants and flowers, umbrella tables a fire pit, heaters when necessary, and part of the patio is covered and can be fully enclosed,” Lynne says. “It’s dog friendly if someone wants to bring their furry friend.”
After all, she says, “Who doesn’t love a great patio? Since Covid, a lot of people prefer to sit outside.”
Urbano serves a wide range of Tex-Mex dishes, including more than 10 taco varieties. Lynne says the brisket tacos are a favorite. The menu also includes several varieties of fajita and enchilada dishes and other specialty plates. And don’t forget to order one of Urbano’s award-winning house margaritas – there are nine options on the menu!
Serving customers is Urbano’s top priority, Lynne says.
“Small business is the backbone of the community,” she says. “Small business owners care about the community, and we put our heart and soul into making your experience a great one.”
During the winter storm this year, Lynne showed her devotion to the community when she and her Urbano staff delivered hot meals to residents of Flower Mound Assisted Living.
“We help whenever we can. It’s not always possible since we are small, and this is our only location, but we do what we can,” Lynne says. “I had lost my mother in December, and when we were told they needed assistance, we didn’t hesitate to help.”
Lynne says, despite the struggles of this past year, Urbano will continue to serve its community just as the community has served Urbano.
“We are eternally grateful for the support the community has given us,” she says. “It hasn’t been easy … We are doing the best we can and hope people understand that we are always trying to provide the best food and service and experience that we possibly can.”
