The mocktail has come a long way since the 1930's Shirley Temple. In recent years, the world of mixology has seen a remarkable evolution. Gone are the days when a non-alcoholic beverage simply meant a soft drink or fruit juice. The rise of mocktails, or alcohol-free cocktails, has ushered in a new era of exciting and sophisticated drinks. There are now themed mocktails on drink menus in most bars and restaurants.
A mocktail is also called a "faux" cocktail. It has the appearance of a traditional cocktail and is fashioned to look like the cocktail it is mimicking right down to the garnish and glass it is served in. A well-placed mint sprig, citrus twist or edible flower can elevate your mocktail's presentation to a whole other level. Mocktails can be just as visually appealing as traditional cocktails. The difference is that they are created without alcohol.
Mocktails are not just for designated drivers or non-drinkers; they are for anyone who appreciates the art of mixology and the joy of a well-crafted beverage. Cheers!
