Each year, Gateway Celebrity Fight Night draws top celebrities to the Valley to not only attend, but often perform at, this well-known gala. The event's 30-year history has funded nonprofit organizations serving a variety of causes, and now benefits Gateway For Cancer Research and its early phase clinical trials for all types of cancer.
Here, we chat with Dr. Stacie J. Stephenson, vice chair of Gateway for Cancer Research and author of national bestseller GLOW: 90 Days To Create Your Vibrant Life From Within.
It’s almost time for Gateway Celebrity Fight Night! What can attendees expect this year?
The black-tie event will feature a cocktail reception, elegant dinner, live auction, and a clinical trial spotlight. This year’s gala showcases Dr. Yoshie Umemura’s work in glioblastoma, one of the deadliest and most treatment-resistant cancers with a survival rate of just 6.9%. 100% of event proceeds directly fund this critical, early-phase research.
This is a celeb-studded event. Any names you can share?
The gala will be emceed by *NSYNC member Joey Fatone, with musical direction by GRAMMY® winner David Foster and appearances from singer-songwriter Katharine McPhee, TV host Lawrence Zarian, comedian Caroline Rhea, and more!
Why is cancer research important to you?
5,370 people are diagnosed with cancer daily, and that number is only growing. Gateway is ALWAYS and ONLY about the patient and these early-phase clinical trials are how we can help more patients win their battles.
