People can’t help but love Dr. Adam Smith and his wife, Brooka. Upon meeting them, you feel the joy they exude for people and the passion they have for wellness. Their journey to Frederick began at Salisbury University on the Eastern Shore. A Young Life training brought them together during the first couple of weeks of Freshman year, they have been inseparable since. It was a whirlwind for the young couple after graduation.  Dr. Adam and Brooka found themselves returning from the honeymoon, packing and heading straight to Florida, where Dr. Adam began attending Palmer Chiropractic School, which requires an intensive, three and half years in a year-round program. “We do as much in-classroom training as medical doctors,” Dr. Adam says. While there, Brooka started her dream career as a kindergarten teacher in a low-income high poverty school. One year into teaching, Brooka’s plan for her teaching career was rocked when she and Dr. Adam attended a seminar on launching an independent chiropractic business.  “Married couples were speaking about doing a business ministry and, sitting in that room at that moment, I understood it. When Adam said that’s what he wanted, I said, I know, and I want to do it with you! We were all in!” Brooka remembers.
Dr. Adam says, “I was influenced by my dad’s experience in the care of a chiropractor. As I looked further into chiropractic and how it approached the function of the body by the nervous system. I realized that the body doesn’t need medicine to heal, it just doesn’t need interference.” He goes on to explain, “Misalignments in the spine cause nerve interference, but when you correct the cause of that, the body heals naturally. I believe God created the body with perfect intent, and I was all about that, and, in short, off to chiropractic school, I went!”
Dr. Adam attended the well-known Palmer College of Chiropractic and is quick to add, “…because I wanted my name to be associated with that college.” He says, “Our practice uses the Torque Release Technique, and I believe in the philosophy behind it. It’s not really moving bones but adding input to the nervous system enabling the nervous system to facilitate the healing. That’s what I am doing. Just facilitating the process. I really love the very gentle and precise approach to it. It’s not the traditional method of chiropractic that people may know with popping and cracking of bones. I have found great results with this, and so I wanted to bring this to the community,” says Dr. Adam.

How they arrived in Frederick started with google. Sitting beside Adam, Brooka glows as she says, “We love Frederick! We knew we wanted to be in Maryland. So, we google searched cities in Maryland. We visited each town and did some of our favorite things, starting in Frederick. It was love at first sight,” Brooka smiles. “Kind of like when you met me!” inserts Dr. Adam, chuckling. Rolling her eyes, Brooka replies, “Sure.” For the Smith’s, Frederick had all the things they were looking for and more. They explain how the business community welcomed Restoration Family Chiropractic with open arms and agree that they couldn’t have asked for a better community. Dr. Adam says, “Now we feel like regulars in the business community because that’s how welcoming this place is for small businesses.”
Restoration Family Chiropractic continues to reach out to the community as a whole family practice. For Dr. Adam, healing is more than physical. He explains that there is a mental, spiritual, and emotional component that factors into how the body expresses itself and says, “We think the spiritual side is super important and acknowledge Jesus as the ultimate healer. We want people to know they don’t have to be limited in life.” Brooka explains that hope, healing and restoration each are a part of their mission. Bringing hope to those who are hopeless, healing that comes from within, which then restores the whole person. Dr. Adam concludes, “We’re all about hope. Hope is stronger than fear. If the community is healthy, we all thrive together.” GoRestoreHealth.com

"There are no silver bullets to wellness. The key to healthy living is a healthy lifestyle. That includes making sure your nervous system is functioning well. That includes eating well and moving your body. Moving is medicine. All these things are complementary to a healthy lifestyle." Dr. Adam
