When Jenny Andre opened her new West Hartford salon earlier this year, she brought two decades of beauty expertise along with a deep philosophy fusing European artistry with heartfelt community care.
Originally from Lisbon, Portugal, Jenny trained as a hairstylist and makeup artist in a rigorous four-year academy program there.
When she moved here she spend more than six years working on Manhatten’s Upper West Side before launching a salon in Staten Island. Now, with the opening of her second salon, Jenny Andre Hair & Skin Spa on Farmington Avenue, she’s creating a fresh space for transformation, creativity, and connection.
“My motto is ‘Beauty and health for your hair,’” Jenny explains. “Because without health, hair can’t truly be beautiful.”
Known for her mastery in color correction and damage repair, she specializes in reviving over-processed hair and restoring shine and strength, earning her the affectionate nickname, “hair doctor.”. She conducts in-depth consultations that prioritize hair health. Her clients get a new look and a treatment plan tailored to strengthen and revive their hair.
While the West Hartford location is still new, Jenny has ambitious plans.
“We just opened in February and we’re still building, but I want this space to be something special—not just a salon, but a place where people feel seen and supported.”
In New York, Jenny has donated services to children with disabilities and hopes to bring that same spirit of generosity to West Hartford. She’s exploring community partnerships and dreams of launching a “confidence makeover” day for women returning to the workforce, offering discounted services and style coaching to help them look and feel their best.
“Everyone deserves to feel beautiful,” she says. “Sometimes, all it takes is the right haircut or a little shine to change how you walk into a room.”
Her services include hairstyling for women, men, and children, and the salon is also an expert in skincare. While the West Hartford salon doesn’t yet offer facials, they’re coming soon. Jenny plans to introduce signature treatments using HydroFacial-Keravive MD, a first-of-its-kind medical-grade scalp facial for those suffering from hair loss, along with Repechage®, 100% organic seaweed-based natural products are perfect for refreshing, soothing, and hydrating all skin types. “I want the West Hartford salon to become a full wellness experience,” she says. “Hair, skin, confidence—it’s all connected.”
For Jenny, West Hartford offers a slower pace and a warm, community-oriented environment that reminds her of home. “This town has heart,” she says. “It’s full of families, small businesses, and people who support each other. That’s why I chose it.”
She’s also adapting her business model to fit the community’s needs, offering weekend hours and flexible evening appointments—ideal for professionals who struggle to book beauty services during the typical 9-to-5.
