In the spirit of giving and gratitude, an extraordinary event this January is set to equip women with the knowledge they need to take control of their health during menopause. Hosted at the Maplewood Country Club, Not Your Mother’s Menopause NJ will empower over 200 women with essential tools and insights on aging, health, and well-being. Organized by pelvic health therapist and owner of 5 Point Physical Therapy, Stacey Futterman Tauriello, women’s strength and fitness coach Allison Karlstad, and local advocate Apri L. McKenziel, this all-day event is more than just educational—it’s about giving back to the community.
Held on January 12, 2025, this symposium brings together a lineup of nationally renowned experts, including Dr. Sharon Malone, a leading OBGYN, and Jennifer Weiss-Wolf, head of the Birnbaum Women’s Center at NYU Law. They will join local and regional specialists to discuss everything from hormones and pelvic health to mental wellness, nutrition, and alternative therapies. "We are giving women the chance to understand their bodies and their options. Too often, doctors tell them, ‘There’s nothing you can do, just go through it,’ which is completely false," says Tauriello. “This event is about changing that narrative.”
The theme of giving doesn’t stop there. To ensure all women in the community have access to this vital information, the event offers a limited amount of financial aid for those in need who wish to attend. This effort is coordinated in partnership with health departments of both Maplewood and South Orange and is generously underwritten by Julie A Lorber, MD, PC Colon and Rectal Surgery and Danbrot + Labianca Properties. "We want to make sure that all women, regardless of their financial situation, can attend and learn about their health," Tauriello emphasizes. "It’s about creating an inclusive space where every woman feels empowered."
Attendees will enjoy personalized experiences through an interactive format. “When you register, we’ll ask you what you really want to know about menopause,” Tauriello explains. “Questions like, ‘Should I still be running?’ or ‘Why is my back aching?’ Our experts will break down the answers.” Topics include everything from hormone replacement therapy, which can reduce the risk of heart disease and dementia, to practical guidance on exercise, mental health, and nutrition.
With brunch, expert-led panels, and a spirit of support, Not Your Mother’s Menopause NJ is a gift to women seeking clarity in their health journeys. This symposium is a reminder that knowledge is the most powerful gift—and it’s one we can all be thankful for. To attend visit www.notyourmothersmenopausenj.com
