Beth Paulson looked in her jewelry box and knew she needed help. The operating room nurse enjoyed wearing jewelry, but her modest collection had grown stale over the years. Some of her older pieces were outdated, and she’d grown tired of others. She had recently inherited a ring from her mother, but while the stone was beautiful, the setting wasn’t her style. Beth had a dilemma. Should she sell or trade in the jewelry, at a steep discount most likely, to purchase something new, or find a way to use the best parts of each piece to make something beautiful and unique?

“It might seem silly, but I had an emotional attachment to some of those original pieces of jewelry, especially my engagement ring and my mother’s ring. I’d just lost her a few months earlier, and that ring was a comforting connection to her,” explains Beth, who has five children. “The stones were the most important part of those pieces. But in their current settings, I wasn’t wearing them much anymore.”

Remembering a referral to Jewelfire Diamonds of Broomfield from a few years back, Beth decided to see what they had to offer. On her 50th birthday, Mark, her husband of 28 years, drove her to the showroom at 6343 W 120th Avenue. Beth didn’t know what to expect as they walked through the door. Khristy Nash, the owner and store manager, greeted them and quickly put them at ease.

“Khristy has such an engaging and dynamic personality that I felt welcomed and relaxed in just a matter of minutes,” explains Beth. “She wanted to know about me, not just my jewelry.”

Beth showed Khristy the twelve pieces of jewelry that needed an update, and the vibrant professional with over forty years of industry experience eagerly accepted the challenge. She examined every piece and studied each of the combined 84 large and small stones under magnification. Then, Khristy developed a plan to showcase the diamonds in three new rings.

“Before going to the store, I was nervous about leaving all my jewelry there. How would I know if they switched out my stones with cheap imitations? But after spending time with everyone, all those fears were eliminated. I was excited to see and wear the new rings,” the Boston area transplant remembers.

Jewelfire’s in-house jewelers helped design the new pieces and produced a CAD drawing for Beth to review before any work began. The stones were carefully removed from the old rings, and the gold was melted down to make new ones. Finally, the jewels were set to complete the process. As a bonus, the artisan incorporated the remaining small diamonds into a delicate necklace.

When all the pieces were complete, Mark and Beth eagerly returned to view the one-of-a-kind jewelry.

“Khristy presented each original piece individually, which made the experience even more special. Unbeknownst to me, Mark had called the store ahead of time. When Khristy produced the ring showcasing the diamond from my original engagement ring, she gave it to Mark first, who then got down on one knee and asked me to renew our wedding vows. It was magical,” she beams.

Beth now happily refers her family and friends to Khristy and Jewelfire Diamonds of Broomfield because of her experience. Her son-in-law Jack purchased an engagement ring for her daughter Ashley, and Beth’s brother-in-law Steve presented an anniversary ring from Jewelfire to his wife of 25 years.

“It’s a great place to go if you want a beautiful piece of custom jewelry,” testifies Beth, “and dealing with the staff is just as impressive. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!”
