For Amalia and Kevin Logan, the idea for North Star Nature Suites™ began not with a business plan, but with something they were experiencing in their own lives.
“Like so many couples, we discovered how easy it is for life to become full while our time together became increasingly scarce,” they share. “Work, responsibilities and the pace of everyday life quietly crowded out the simple moments that mattered most.”
They began searching for a place where they could reconnect and experience the restorative beauty of nature without sacrificing the thoughtful comforts, intentional design and elevated hospitality they loved.
They never found it. So they built it.
In many ways, their careers had been preparing them for North Star all along. For more than thirty years, Amalia designed homes around the belief that the best design quietly changes the way people feel. Kevin spent twenty-five years creating exceptional guest experiences and leading operations for one of the country's premier health and wellness brands, where he learned that true hospitality isn't found in grand gestures, but in thoughtful ones.
Together, they imagined a different kind of escape in the Tennessee mountains—one designed not around how much there is to do, but around how it feels to finally have nowhere else to be.
“The Nature Suites™ were designed from the inside out, beginning with how we wanted someone to feel in the space,” Amalia says. “They're refined and luxurious, but never at the expense of comfort.”
Expansive glass keeps nature ever-present, while indulgently comfortable beds layered in European linens, spa-inspired bathrooms, designer furnishings and thoughtfully equipped kitchens create an inviting sense of comfort. Outside, private hot tubs, fire pits, heated chairs, hammocks and pizza ovens invite couples to linger a little longer.

Beyond each Nature Suite™, the mountain becomes part of the experience. Guests can explore nearby waterfalls and state parks, wander North Star's private trails or join the Logans for a guided UTV excursion to a waterfall where scenes from Disney's 1994 film “The Jungle Book” were filmed.
And yet, some of the moments guests remember most require no itinerary at all.
Morning coffee outside. A sunset worth stopping for. Sitting beside a fire long after dinner. Looking up at the night sky untouched by city lights.
“Nature creates space for conversation, stillness and connection,” the Logans say. “You don't have to tell people to slow down here. The mountain seems to do it for us.”
North Star has become a setting for many of life's meaningful moments—anniversaries, birthdays, honeymoons and proposals—but sometimes there is no occasion at all.
“Sometimes it's simply two people who realize they need time together,” the Logans say.
While thoughtful touches can make those stays more personal, the Logans intentionally resist over-orchestrating the experience.
