Maricela's Taste of Home Cooking

Enjoy farm-to-table Tex-Mex food and drinks made at family-run Dos Mary’s

In her hometown of Mexico City, Maricela Pena-Jaimes discovered a passion for cooking. Upon moving to Texas in 1997, her excitement toward food only evolved as she worked in the food industry.

“Growing up, my mother would always talk about owning her own restaurant,” says Ruben Betancourt-Pena. “In 2020, she decided to make her dream come true. Me and my younger brother, Kevin, backed her up all the way. Everything happened so quickly.”

The goal was to develop a restaurant atmosphere that anyone would feel comfortable in, along with an authentic menu with fresh products. In creating the menu, Maricela focused on offering a wide variety of dishes and drinks.

“My mother went with a Tex-Mex menu with a twist of traditional. With her knowledge and experience, she put together her best recipes that she would make at home, to show her love for cooking to the public,” says Ruben.

Through the journey of establishing Dos Mary’s, the family has committed to staying united. Their staff has also become part of that united front.

“Many of our staff have been with us since day one. There’s no way we could’ve done this without them,” says Ruben.
